These works are tratiditional 3-plate (or 2-plate) color Mezzotints. This process involves creating multiple plates with the same image, but with different parts burnished out, to control where each color is layed. The plates are inked and printed, in series, onto a single sheet of paper, to create the print. Each plate must be registered perfectly, when printing, to prevent a ghosting effect, which occurs when the images are not aligned.
